Does IPL work for stretch marks?
I'm currently using Retin A and not seeing the stretch lines disappearing? Maybe a bit lighter, but the lines are still really visible.

As far as the IPL treatment, this will not work on stretch marks only because there is a lot more streched out skin to be tightened by the IPL.

IPL treatment may lessen the redness in your stretch marks (if they are still red). If your stretch marks have lost pigmentation or if the skin has thinned out, IPL treatment will not help. There are other solutions, but you will need to consult with your dermatologist.

I am seeing Dr. Kovak out of oakbrook illinois and this is who reccomended it to me. I have very small stretch marks on the breasts. For the stretch marks on my hips and legs we will be discussing laser treatments futher alkong the line right now i am using tretionin (retin a)

THE IPL I WILL ONLY BE USING FOR THE REALLY SMALL STRETCH MARKS ON THE BREASTS? You really dont agree with this approach? I am already extremly depressed and the last thing i need is o spend money i dont have on a treatment that dosent work. I have had 12 surgeries due to endometriosis overian cysts ruptured appendix turned gaingreen and the list goes on i am a very depressed person, over the years i've been on lupron and so many birth control pills causing my tiny frame to go up and down in weight. I do not know i fmy birth mother had stretch marks since I am adopted. I do know Dr.kovak is a skin and laser specialist but I am untrusting of anything when it comes to my skin. Please i want to feel alive again i live in a dark lonley world right now my stretch marks are on my hips thighs calfs breasts butt area. Please I am in the chicago area and can get to oakbrook where dr.kovak is please any advice. Again the IPL will only be used to treat the small stretch marks on the breasts and we are going to treat the other areas with other lasers options. Emily

I am a IPL maker in china.Frankly speaking Ipl has good effect in treating strench marks,even the marks is not big.Please kindly you'd better not do such treatment.At present there is no good machine in removing strenth marks in the world.If you believe me please write to me at hongyu8813@126.com

Unfortunately, there is no "cure" for stretch marks. There is no cream, no treatment, no laser that will make them disappear, and this includes IPL treatments. I do agree with Dr. Goldberg that there are modalities that will help resolve the red or darker pigmentation associated with the stretch marks. People need to understand that these lesions represent permanent damage to the skin. The goal should be improvement by minimizing the color and improving the surrounding texture. We currently use the QYAG for darker pigment, pusled dye lasers for the red-based pigment, and the Aramis Quantel to stimulate collagen surrounding the stretch marks to improve the appearance. We believe in setting very realistic expectations. Some patients are better served by being evaluated for an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck. Just knowing what options are available to you will be a big, first, positive step.
