Question

Permanent makeup shades for Asian skin

Hi. I would like to find out the perfect eyebrow and lip color suitable for my Asian complexion. I'm considering having a permanent cosmetic eyebrow tattoo and a lip color tinting as well and I would something that would look most natural, not too pink or red though. Thanks.

Espresso is a great color for Asian skin

LIPigments (Lasting Impressions) has a brow color perfectly blended for Asian skin: Espresso. I prefer LIPigment Aqua Formulas.

Eyebrow Cosmetic Tattoo can be beautiful on Asian skin, however Asian skin is often not a good candidate for cosmetic tattoo lip procedures. The reason is Asian lips usually have deep undertones. Lip undertones are always cool and as such, the blue (cool) undertones tend to overpower any color added to the lip, resulting in a blue or purple result. Another situation, common in Asian lips, is the natural variegation (darker near the border and lighter in the middle)of the natural lip color.

On its own, this 'irregular' pigmentation of the natural Asian lip is pretty, but when someone tries to "even it out", the result can be spotty. Cosmetic Tattoo Lip procedure mistakes are the most difficult to correct.

Bear this in mind: light skin can be tattooed darker, but dark skin can NEVER be tattooed lighter.

My suggestion to you is that you begin the consultation process to find someone capable and responsible to apply your eyebrows but I believe you would better off to not tattoo your lips. Lip tattooing is definitely a specialty and requires a lot of knowledge, training and experience. Buy a tinted lip gloss and be happy with your (I'm sure) beautiful natural Asian lips.

The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) is a good source of technician referral.
