Isolaz is a light and vacuum based technology for treatment of Acne

Acne develops when the hair follicles get blocked by anbormal flaking of cells that line the hair follicle and increased oil and sebum.  When the blocked hair follicles rupture, their contents are released in the surrounding tissue which leads to inflammation, swelling and redness.  The normal bacteria that lives on our skin can also cause redness and irritaion.  Androgens which are male hormones are another major factor in causing acne.  Androgens lead to sebum over production and this is usually seen during puberty.

Isolaz treats acne in 2 different ways.  First, the vacuum technology losens and extracts sebum and leads to less blockage of the glands.  Then the light rays kill the acne causing bacteria and also generate heat which leads to decreased oil production.

Isolaz, like any other acne treatment, works great for the right patient but it does not work for everyone.  It is great for treating many types of acne but the best results are acheived for patients with pustular acne.  Also, the filters of the machine can be adjusted to use a specific wavelength to treat certain issues such as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is the red marks that are left after the acne resolves.  Pre-treating the affected area with steam for about 5 to 10 minutes prior to the procedure also helps in opening up the pores and makes the vacuum more effective.

Isolaz is performed by medical professionals meaning physicans, nurses and PAs.
