Does having active gum disease decrease the amount of time that a filler such as Juvederm lasts.

I had juvederm injected into my n/l folds and the affects only lasted two days. After two days my n/l folds return to how they was before the injections. I went back to the doctor who saw my gums and stated that because I have a active gum disease my immune system might have absorbed the filler and that could be the reason that it only lasted for two days. Is this possible or is there another reason why it only lasted for two days.
