What is this bump inside my nostril, post-rhinoplasty? (Photo)

Hello,Without examining you would it be difficult to say exactly what is causing this. This might be a small irregularity of the cartilage of the columella or excess skin in this area. As you know there can be unexpected changes during the first 2 or 3 years following rhinoplasty. From your photos the remainder of the tip appears to be symmetric. I would think this issue could be easily remedied in the office under local anesthesia only. You should return to your surgeon for their evaluation.

Hello and thanks for trusting the real self community with your question.First off, so many smaller issues immediately after surgery are related to swelling, temporary shifting of structures due to sutures, and scar tissue.Having said this, most minor issues should resolve with time and massage within about a year.  If not, you might consider an examination with your surgeon.It appears that you might have a small overlap of skin known as a trap door deformity or a shifting of the cartilage that makes up the lower nose, the lower lateral cartilage.Have your physician take a look as I am sure you'll find a great solution.Best regards,Dr. Todd Hobgood

The bump could be a number of things. Sometimes there is a sutures placed under the skin in that area that can cause some inflammation. It can also be some extra skin from the lining of the nose that is bunched up. It could also be a graft or normal cartilage which has been displaced since surgery. i would recommend speaking with your revision rhinoplasty surgeon as they will know exactly what they did in surgery, and will have a better idea of what needs to be done to correct the issue.
