Accidentally strained 11 days post facelift, advice?

Hi there and thanks for your question.  The biggest worry with any injury after a facelift is a hematoma, which is a collection of blood under the skin.  In this case, the blood may need to be drained from the face.  However, after 11 days everything should be healing nicely.  If you see or feel any changes, I suggest following up with your plastic surgeon.  Best of luck and feel better! 

Without any signs of swelling, pain, or asymmetry, it is unlikely that you caused any harm.  It's always a good rule to stay in close contact with your surgeon.  My patients have an open and direct line of communication with me (cell and email), which we pride ourselves on.  Good luck moving forward!

Your facelift should be quite durable by now. I suggest you take a close look at your skin. Are there any new areas of swelling. Any new bleeding or bruises? Any areas that concern you?
The facelift is probably ok if there are no signs of hematoma or suture breakdown.
A quick examination by your plastic surgeon will clarify any questionable areas. 

From your description of the straining event you had 11 days after your facelift, I doubt that any damage was done.  If you are feeling fine and there was no worsening in your appearance, you should be fine.  

The biggest worry following a face-lift is the possibility of having a hematoma (bleeding under the skin)  The signs and symptoms of a hematoma are pain and swelling at the site. It would be very unusual to develop a hematoma 11 days after the surgery.

for your troubles! During the first 2 to 3 weeks following any surgery
including a face and neck lift, the beginning of scar (collagen) formation,
dissolving sutures and sealing of blood vessels are just beginning to occur.
Any strain or incidence of high blood pressure could cause sutures to break,
incisions to open or bleeding to happen with additional time to heal
needed. Please arrange a follow-up examination with your surgeon to check on these concerns. I wish you the very best!

From your description I feel you should do fine.You could have some bleeding or pull the corrected muscle bands but I think you should be fine..

The reason we worry about this type of thing is because it can cause bleeding (hematoma). Had this occurred you would immediately know it. Usually by the 11th day you are out of the risk period for this complication. You would have had a great deal of swelling and pain with this. It is doubtful that what you did would pull anything lose. I think you are fine.

 Hi, I have performed many SMAS facelifts and neck lifts for over 30 years and have performed many minimally, invasive SMAS facelifts.  The worry regarding exertion after a facelift is to avoid excessive bleeding (hematoma) under the skin flaps (elevated skin).  The more invasive type facelifts are more venerable because of the extensive tissue dissection involved. If you are concerned you should call your Facelift Surgeon who will decide whether you should be seen.  If you don't see any increased area of swelling with discomfort, it's unlikely that anything has been injured but only an in person examination can confirm that.Hope this helps.
