In general, one of the possible albeit rare events related to surgery in general is chronic pain or neuropathic pain. This can be exacerbated by scar tissue tension . It can happen without injury to larger nerve branches.

Your history does not explain whether you have already seen a pain specialist or not. If you have not seen one, it seems to be a reasonable next step. Complex regional pain syndromes can also be associated with intermittent vascular changes like the ones you are describing.

Medication and physiotherapy are often part of the management protocols and physiotherapists may recommend treatments to soften the scar tissue under the skin to allow more flexibility.

It is impossible to give you reasonable explanation for your condition without in person evaluation. However, it is unlikely that overdone (overtightened) SMAS lift/plication would have such an effect for 5 years!? If so, condition should be treated properly. Hope this helps. Good luck.

You may not like this response, but weight gain might stretch your tissue enough so then with weight loss, you may be more normal. Otherwise, time will slowly relax your tight tissues.
