Is selphyl (platelet-rich fibrin matrix next generation PRP) good for hair loss?

Yes, Selphyl may help with hair growth in some people. Prp is effective, but I have a very specific protocol, every 3-4 weeks for 6 months with prp therapy. I also add in progesterone to speed the healing process.  After that the injections are tailored down. The benefit of PRFM is that the fibrin matrix allows platelet growth factors to set in the scalp environment longer, which stimulates the inflammatory response to hair follicles for regrowth over prolonged time frame. PRFM (Selphyl) works well for my patients, but some prefer PRP alone. Before considering PRP/PRFM, you should seek an office for Trichoscopy examination of your hair follicles. PRP is an excellent option for thinning hair.  Selphyl has an extracellular matrix built into the PRP purification process.

Selphyl can be effective for Hair Restoration. However, there are other products that may be better. Selphyl can produce a maximum concentration of 1.6 X . Most PRP experts recommend a minimum of three to four X platelet concentration. Furthermore Selphyl, is activated, and recent studies ( Gentile) show that activation is of no benefit and may actually produce inferior results. Activated platelets are more difficult to inject due to time constraints. In conclusion, if you're getting good results after 3 to 4 monthly treatments stay with the Selphyl.
