The good thing about temporary veneers is that they are very temporary, lasting only a week or two. They will easily stain with cigarette smoking and break or come off easily with eating course or chewy foods. The good news is that your real veneers will be stain resistant and very durable. If you’re having temporary veneers put on, you’re most likely not wearing them for more than a couple of weeks…and it will take longer than that to kick the smoking habit. Smoking does not cause actual damage per se to the veneer, but it will make it discolored, and even cause stain to soak in around the margin of the prosthesis, making it look aged long before it should.
While in temporary veneers (also called "provisionals" by dentists) you would be best advised to be careful, not eating things very hard. The temporaries are just plastic and not bonded onto the teeth as will be your permanent veneers, and thus can more easily be dislodged or broken if you are not careful.Smoking can cause your temporary veneers to darken, as they are made out of plastic, and not hard or as smooth as your final porcelain veneers. Thus, they can pick up staining quickly. The great news is that porcelain veneers are EXTREMELY COLOR STABLE, and discoloration due to smoking will most likely not discolor them!
Temporary Veneers are placed on the teeth to protect them while the permanent veneers are being made at the lab. They are not at all like the permanents will be and are not very strong nor very resistant to staining. I would recommend you avoid smoking if possible, but if you do smoke you could use pure baking soda as a dentifrice to help to remove stains which will undoubtedly form on the temporary veneers. As far as eating I would advise using a knife and fork for everything you eat and avoid using your front teeth to bite or chew with. The good news is that you will probably have your permanent veneers in a short time.

Based on your photos, your veneers look really nice in bright light, but only slightly dimmer in dim light, as you've described. The slightly darker appearance is likely due to the material that was used. I understand that all of the veneers are likely the same material, but the two...
I'm not sure if you had a scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) or a root canal (where the nerve is taken out of the tooth root). From your description, I would guess that you have periodontal disease with bone loss. The best treatment for this condition is a scaling and root...
