What is a "must have list " for post BBL?

Hello, First things first I would make sure to have Drainage Massages for post lipo, that will minimize bumps and swelling. Arnica pills are a great way to reduce bruising and muscle soreness for the days following surgery. Have at least two compression garments as you must have one on at all times after the BBL procedure. A BBl pillow is a must I recommend to my patients to lay on their stomach for the first month while sleeping to keep pressure off of the gluteal area.  You cannot sit for the first 10 days post operatively for the same reason.  When you transfer fat from one area of the body to another, the fat needs the blood supply from the surrounding area to grow into it for it to survive.  Typically, you will keep 70-80% of the fat which is placed into the gluteal area.  If you sit or lay on your buttocks you will be compressing the area and in addition to all the swelling which is there post-operatively, there will be a decreased amount of fat which will survive. 

Your plastic surgeon's office, typically the patient consultant or nurse, will provide you with a pre-op and post-op checklist. The list will indicate which medications you should stop taking prior to surgery. Additional guidance regarding smoking, drinking, herbs, etc. will be included in that list. You will also receive prescriptions which you should have filled and bring to surgery with you. Following your surgery, you will be given discharge instructions to assist with your healing. One of the main items will be eating/drinking enough protein to facility wound recovery.My patient coordinator suggests this "mattress" called a holo lilo, really a swimming pool raft. It has a hole cut out in the middle to cradle the abdomens of pregnant ladies. You can lay on your back with head elevated and your buttocks in the hole of the raft so there's no pressure on the buttocks. Some patients cut out holes in lawn chairs and sleep on them. Your plastic surgeon will provide a compression garment and probably suggest a pillow.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Hello dear!Thanks for the question. The most important thing to have post BBL is your boppy pillow, medications for home, the faja, compression socks, tank tops, abdominal and backboard (probably), lipofoams, wipes and comfortable clothes and shoes.  Hope this could help and good luck :)

Hello, thanks for your question and provided information as well, for a bbl procedure it is 911 to buy a boopy pillow to sleep, sit and rest for at least 8 weeks from the procedure, this will prevent the fat to go away.
