Hi there, you definitely have a localised infection. I would not use a surgical needle as this can cause the infection to spread. Sorry to say that this is not something you can manage on your own.

This needs assessing by the injector. Infection is likely to need antibiotics and may need the filler breaking down to so it is no longer a source for the infection.
I would recommend a quick review to minimise any further issues and to get control of the problem.

I suggest you see your family doctor regarding this to be seen and assessed in person, and managed accordingly.

Your photos indicate that you may have a localized infection. Draining the lesion may help to alleviate the problem.  However I do not think that you should do this as you could run the risk of spreading the infection.  You should contact your physician and/or the clinic that injected the product and have them address this issue.

Hi linsey1992,Whether it's a cold sore or an infection, it should be attended to by your Provider. A cold sore would usually ulcerate like a small crater. An infection would have to be drained but it's not for you to do since the pus needs to drain completely and the technique has to be aseptic - otherwise, the inflammation can spread. You would also need prescriptions: Valtrex for viral-caused cold sores and the proper antibiotics if bacterial infection is considered. In some cases, a cold sore can have superimposed bacterial infection so clearly, this is not something advisable to perform on your own,All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
