Can IPL laser or any other laser be used to whiten skin by destroying melanocytes?

Can an IPL laser treatment be used to remove pigmentation from large areas of skin and whiten it? I know its used in tattoo removal but can it be used for general skin pigmentation too? is there any other laser that can produce whitening results by reducing melanocytes in the skin?

With IPL treatments, microcrusting(coffee grounds) usually appears in 24-48 hours. A series of IPL photofacials (3-6) depending on how much damage was present initially may be recommended to achieve optimal results. If you have stubborn pigment, consider a series of treatments 3-4 weeks apart....

IPL and other non-ablative light or laser modalities will not be able to treat angiofibromas.  For successful treatment, I recommend electrodessication or treatment with an ablative laser such as CO2.Good luck!
