Do facial implants cause illnesses?

Hello. I currently have cheek filler, but have considered getting cheek implants. There has been discussion that breast implants cause fatigue, sickness, BIA ALCL. Since facial implants are made of the same material, theoretically could they cause the same issues? Why isn't there concern of facial implants causing these issues? Is it because even if implants did potentially risk such things, that the breast are a more dangerous region for developing these diseases than the skull? Thank you!

Structure of silicone made facial implants is very different from breast implants since they are made of solid silicons rubber not a cohesive gel like breast implants. For that reason there have been no systemic side effects which may be connected to breast implants associated with facial implants.

There are different types of breast implants, but the ones made from silicone are a soft gel.  Facial implants made from silicone are solid and cannot leak.  Silicone facial implants would not cause illness, but as with any implant, infection is a possible consequence.

While facial and breast implants are seemingly made of the same silicone materials, their structural compositions of them are very different. Breast implant are composed of two different types of silicone, a silicone gel internally and a thin solid silicone shell to contain it. As a result breast implants can fail, exposing the gel and creating a need to be replaced. Some breast implants also have a highly textured implant surface to them which has been shown to be the source of ALCL in a low number of patients. Conversely facial implants are composed of one solid piece of silicone which means they can't ever fail. There has never been shown any association with any form of medical illness with silicone facial implants in their over fifty-year history of clinical use.
