Will my Gynecomastia go away?

Hard to tell, I would recommend a physical exam with a plastic surgeon for the best opinion. There are varying degrees of gynecomastia ranging from puffy nipple to severe breast enlargement and/or breast sag. The severity of the gynecomastia will determine which treatment option is necessary. In most cases, men suffer from standard gynecomastia, which can be surgically treated as an in-office procedure under local anesthesia. For more severe cases, it may be recommended that you have your procedure under general anesthesia at an outpatient surgery center. Your consultation will determine which option is best suited for treating your gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia or male breast enlargement can occur for no reason at all during puberty. This usually resolves in a few years. After 4 or 5 years if there has beeen no imprivement it is unlikely to resolve by itself. There are other factors that can make the condition worse such as marijuana or steroid use. If you are using these or any form of body building over the counter products I reccomend you stop now and watch for improvement. If there are no changes you may need surgical intervention which is a simple out-patient procedure.

Unfortunately if you have had gynecomastia for 4 years it probably will not go away without surgery. 65% of males get some type of gynecomastia during puberty but 90 to 95% find that it will resolve on its own within 2 years. I suggest you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that specializes in gynecomastia to find out what your options are. Good luck!

Thank you for your question.Gynecomastia at this stage is unlikely to go away. I would however wait for sometime before seeking surgical treatment. You should, however, see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for evaluation of the problem.All The Best !

Gynecomastia that has persisted beyond age 17 certainly will need surgery to fix it.  Your situation is quite typical.  Get this fixed and feel confident about yourself.
