Swelling is perfectly normal but we can oftentimes underestimate the effect. It normally takes 3-4 days for swelling to reside post-injection treatment but it does vary patient to patient. When swelling around the lip occurs, the skin can feel stiff and similar to the injected lip, oftentimes leading on the scare of migrated filler. I highly suggest allowing one full week for filler to settle within the lips.

It is normal to have swelling 24 hours after lip injection.  It is also common to have swelling in the lip above the place the filler was injected.  This swelling should resolve and does not mean that the filler has migrated upwards.  I would recommend not icing the area, as some patients actually swell more after icing Restylane Silk.

Swelling can be typical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Swelling post-filler injections is common and to be expected. It can take up to 2 full weeks for the swelling to resolve, so it's still much too early to asses your final results. Restylane Silk is a particularly hydrophilic (water-attracting) filler, meaning that it tends to produce more initial swelling than some of the other HA fillers on the market. Give the swelling more time to subside and if you are still concerned after that, you should schedule an appointment with your provider to discuss the situation. 

Some patients respond to this product with more than average lip swelling.  Cold packs can help and if  the swelling is extreme a course of steroids can be used. The good news is that in a few days or a week it will settle down and you will see your result.

Yes, I think this is normal without knowing exactly what was done.  This takes 24-48 hours to resolve.  Ice, an anti-histamine and time will make this better.  Good luck, should be a nice result!  Of course, communicate with your care giver if you have further questions, etc.  

Thanks for your question. Restylane SILK does tend to cause more swelling after injection than other lip fillers, and it usually takes about 48 hrs for it to tame down. Only your injector would be able to speak to where exactly the filler was placed, we cannot determine this accurately from a photo especially when swelling is present. Filler placed in the tissue above the lip does not migrate into the lip, and vice versa filler placed in the body of the lip cannot move out of the lip/migrate elsewhere. You may want to book a follow up with your injector for 7 to 10 days from now, to be sure you understand placement and are happy with your result.

Hi! I would recommend waiting 2 full weeks for swelling to go down. At that time, if you are unhappy with your results, return to your injector. We oftentimes swell where the product is not. Best of luck!
