We prefer using the patient's own tissues to augment the lips (LiveFill(R)) rather than a synthetic implant.  It gives soft, natural feeling results and doesn't require placement of a plastic implant that can shift (usually it bottoms out) or be palpable as a firm object.

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Swelling can be typical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps!

Trisha.   While fillers like Juvederm Ultra plus do attract water to the cells where it is placed, this is a temporary phenomenon, and will not treat dry or chapped lips.  Try to find a lip moisturizer that suits you, and go for lip fillers only if you desire fuller lips.  Best of luck!
