I had bariatric surgery 5 years ago the sleeve gasterectomy. I have since gained 70 lbs and I'm feeling terrible is there a possibility for revision for this? My stomach area and my face. Are my biggest change
Answer: Revision Hello...5 years ago, some surgeons preffer to do a big size sleeve, using bigger calibration boggies for do the size of the stomach, or start the staple line a little far from the union between the stomach and the duodenum make it more easy to weight regain. The main cause of regain is that you doesn't change the bad habbits, is neccesary in all cases with or without surgery to learn to eat healthy avoiding empty calories like sugar, candies, flour, bread, sodas, etc and the exercise have to be part of the change, this is the key to maintance weight. The surgery is not the solution, it just the way, the tool to lose weight. The succes is when you change what took you there. In case for revision it can be a re-sleeve, a gastric bypass, plicature, or complete a duodenal switch.Hope I can help with the idea.God Bless you

Answer: Revision of sleeve I agree that a BPD-DS will give you the best weight loss but also can give you more nutrient deficiency. I usually do a bypass but don't expect to lose as much weight as a first time gastric bypass. Also remember that revisional bariatric surgery has higher risk. This operations can be done laparoscopically so if you see a surgeon for a revision and he is going to do it open get a second opinion.

Answer: Weight regain after gastric sleeve, what to do? Don't feel bad. Weight regain after bariatric surgery is well known and still is 20 to 30%. In my experience, one you regained weight with the sleeve gastrectomy, the best next option is to revise the sleeve to the BPD-DS. The BPD-DS will give you the best chance at weight loss after a failed sleeve. Some surgeons may suggest revision to a gastric bypass. I have done many of these revisions and the weight loss is not that impressive. The bottom line is that once you have failed a restrictive procedure like the sleeve, you can not expect much weight loss when you add another restrictive procedure like the gastric bypass. (yes, the gastric bypass is a restrictive procedure) Re-sleeving falls into the same category. One of my mentors used to say "you can only fool the body once". Your body have learned to defeat any restrictive procedure. At this time the DPD-DS is your best and only option for sustained weight loss.
