Finally Decided to Try Laser Hair Removal - Melbourne, AU

5 sessions and still not fully gone

So I've completed 5 sessions of my laser and I'm a little disappointed. I would say 50% has gone from my underarm but only 20% from my bikini area. The hairs are a lot finer but I've still a long way to go. Luckily for me the clinic I go to had a new offer on so I purchased 5 more sessions. I really hope that these extra sessions will remove the remaining hair. Has anyone else encountered this? Also are there different strengths on the Candela Gentlelase machine, as I find the pain bearable and if increasing the strength works then I'll be happy bear it a little more.

The clinician explained the whole process of laser and made me aware that factors such as hormones, certain medications and genetics hair may not permanently be removed, but greatly reduced. She was very friendly and made me feel at ease which helps when you think your going to experience the worst pain ever. She recommended after care cream for redness and swelling. Very happy so far, lets hope it works.

Finer hairs require more power to generate enough heat from the laser to do the job, so increasing the power should have been part of the protocol all along. Best of luck!

Update 3 down 3 more to go!

Miss Maria
Sorry for the delay in the update. It's been 3 weeks since by third session and I definitely notice a huge difference especially in the bikini area. The armpit is moving a lot more slowly but I have been told this maybe due to applying tan to the skin which would make sense as to why one area is moving along a lot faster than the other.

The hairs are falling out bit by bit and I am starting to notice bald patches in areas which is great as it means it is working. As always there is minimal pain but then again I think it maybe due to your tolerance or the area, as my friend has also started laser in the same clinic and finds it quite painful on her legs which is interesting. She is a lot fairer than me so unsure if this is a contributing factor.

I have to say the girls who work there are great, especially Jackie. I never stopped laughing from the moment I arrived until I left. It was the most fun, painless session yet. She certainly knows how to distract you. If your from Melbourne then Australian laser and skin is definitely the place to go.

I hope this helps and I promise to update you soon after my fourth session. :)

White hairs starting to show

Miss Maria
3 weeks after first session: I have noticed some of my hairs are growing back white! I have never had white hairs even on my head so obviously laser is causing this. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm hoping these hairs will eventually fall out otherwise this is really not a good look.

That's interesting, actually I have noticed this happening with the epliator as well. You should post a question to the doctors, it would be interesting to know why this may be happening, here is a link for you.

I've had the same result with a lot more white hairs than before the laser...especially on the scrotum...
