Removal tips

To avoid damaging your skin when removing the Embrace strip always follow the manufacturer’s instructions to the letter! I whipped one of mine off in a hurry once and took off a layer of skin - ouch!! Super painful.
So, because the medical grade adhesive is strong, always take the strip off very, very slowly and gently under a hot shower. Take your time over it. Alternatively, you can try a product like Appeel - in the U.K. it’s only available under prescription but using it makes medical grade adhesive plasters and dressings slide right off instantly. Ask your GP, derm or surgeon.
Once you have removed the strip you may find your skin a bit wrinkly and sensitive to the touch. I find that leaving it exposed to the air to breathe without anything on or applying a little vitamin E oil works for me, to rehydrate the skin and let it settle. Always clean the area with an alcohol wipe before putting on a new Embrace strip.

I ordered Embrace for the first time. The first strip I opened was folded around the edges. Contacted company and they sent a replacement quickly. Unfortunately I found my skin did not like them. Skin became very itchy and red. Tried benadryl but unfortunately did not work so had to discontinue after a few days

Oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear that. My skin also reacted to begin with and I found a little hydrocortisone cream for the contact dermatitis reaction did the trick. I don’t keep my strips on for longer than ten days, I probably average at about 7-10 days - I should have mentioned that in my review. Now my skin doesn’t react at all. And I let my skin ‘rest’ for 24 hours in between strips. I have used EGF serum on a drain scar (too small for Embrace) and it has worked pretty well. Maybe it’s worth asking your doctor if that would be suitable for you? Also, there’s a brand of silicone gel (I tried all of them!) that works ok - I can remember it off the top of my head but I will find it tomorrow and note it here for you in case it helps. Good luck!

The scar gel I mentioned above is called SilDerm. Hope this helps. All the best!

Embrace Scar Therapy - amazing!

ScaredyCat123
Having had underwhelming and disheartening results from using various silicone strips and ointments for scar management in the past, I thought I’d try the Embrace scar therapy system to treat a large scar across the front of my neck. In such a mobile and contoured area I had to adapt the application of the product but, even so, the results have been brilliant. I have been absolutely meticulous in how I care for the wound and the Embrace device though. I started using the system two weeks after the wound was closed and am nearly at three months. I may use it longer depending on what my surgeon advises at my next review.

I usually keloid, even in immobile areas, so the fact that the scar across my neck is scalpel-thin, flat and not at all red and angry is nothing short of a miracle!

I am sure results vary from person to person but if you are careful and happy to follow the tricky instructions (it’s a breeze once you get the hang of it) it is worth it in my view. My results have been remarkable and worth every penny and more - especially when I think of how much money and pain I’ve saved in scar revision surgery, lasers, peels and so on. Try it!! Best of luck.
