Is a nose job to remove unflattering, boxy sides possible? (Photos)

Rhinoplasty is frequently performed to improve the shape of a 'boxy' nasal tip.  There are a number of techniques that are used to modify the shape of the tip cartilages to form a more triangular and graceful nose. The choice of techniques depends on the size, strength and curvature of your tip cartilages, the amount of tip support present, your skin thickness, and several other factors. I recommend that you visit an experienced surgeon that will listen carefully to your concerns. Have them perform computer imaging to show you their vision of your nose following surgery.  Images can be very helpful to understand what the surgeon wishes to accomplish, what features they would change and how much, and to see if you share their vision of a natural appearing, attractive nose (aesthetic sensibility).

is required to refine the
middle and upper part of the nose accordingly
tip
refining.It
will
give better results. Closed
rhinoplasty can be used in these situations. it
will take about a year for the nose to reach final shape .But
the
nose gradually takes its shape on
third or forth week of the post op.

I am assuming you are referring to the tip being boxy. The boxy appearance is from cartilages and these can be made smooth and narrowed without effecting other parts of the nose. It can be done without any bony work or nostril narrowing. Both open or closed approach can achieve it. RegardsDr. J

Thanks for your question and photos.  It looks like you are referring to the widened nasal cheek grooves.  Thinning this area can easily be accomplished with a closed rhinoplasty. This would be a relatively quick recovery.  Please see a qualified rhinoplasty surgeon in your area.  Best!

A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish and narrowing your nose with all the incisions placed on the inside of the it. No external incisions are required. To narrow wide nasal bones requires osteotomies placed in them. A tip-plasty can accomplish narrowing wide nasal tip cartilages. For many examples, please see the  link and the video below

A well-executed rhinoplasty can certainly improve the appearance of your nose and address the boxy appearance that you mentioned, and enhance the overall contour of your nose.  In the right hands, there is a high likelihood of success and achieving an outcome with which you are very pleased.  It is very important that you seek a plastic surgeon who has demonstrated a particular interest and specialty in rhinoplasty because it is really a surgery of millimeters.  The open or closed approach is really surgeon dependent.  The immediate swelling from a rhinoplasty lasts for about 4-6 weeks, but all of the minor swelling usually takes about 12 months to resolve.

Dear Kikigarr, Yes you can have rhinoplasty to address the boxy tip. This is a very common request in rhinoplasty patients. Each surgeon uses a different approach so I suggest you find the surgeon who can provide you the best results and then they will tell you the techniques they will use to provide your desired result. I would suggest seeking consultations with expert surgeons and have imaging performed. I personally like to use digital imaging to help make sure the patient and I are on the same page with their desired results. When performing imaging its important that you take into consideration the patients skin thickness and nasal anatomy so that the morphed or imaged photograph is a realistic proposed result.
