Had Botox twice and looked like a witch. How do I make it look natural?

Sorry to hear that you have been dissatisfied with your Botox. Unfortunately, the eyebrow deformity that  you describe is a common one caused by a "style" of injecting that has become largely passe. In the past, providers have been taught to inject Botox into the forehead and frown muscles just "between the pupils". This leaves only the portion of the forehead muscle lateral to the pupil to support the brow. The concentration of Botox in the middle of the forehead often results in the medial brow getting heavy, while the tail of the brow becomes elevated. This sinister look has been given many labels including Spock, Mephisto (Marvel Comic Character), Samurai, inquisitive brow, and others. Let your provider know that this is not a look that you desire. It can be easily fixed with a small dose adjustment. Today, most practitioners opt for a low dose treatment across the entire forehead or skip the forehead altogether in favor of elevating the brow more uniformly. In all likelihood, it is not your face; it is the technique!  Sounds like you need a touch of botox to the lateral forehead (to relax the portion of the frontalis muscle that pulls up on the sides of your eyebrows).  The keys to a successful injection are:1) go to a physician that is experienced in botox injections2) go back to them at two weeks so that you can assess the results and tweak as necessaryI always invite my new patients to come back at two weeks.  That way, we can make sure that we are happy with the results.

It sounds like you are describing a look that involves adding Botox to the middle of the forehead and not adding any Botox to the sides.  This causes a "peaking" of the brows with a smooth middle portion of the forehead.  More Botox can be added to the sides of soften the look, but will not allow the lateral (outer) portion of the brow to stay as high.  I find that some patients like a peaked brow while others do not, and I always ask my patients about this prior to injections. Thank you for your question.  What your are describing is an effect that often occurs when Botox is injected into the middle portion of the forehead and the sides are left untouched.  The result is "peaking" of the tail ends of the brows, and a flat mid section of the forehead.  For some patients with lid laxity or very deep set eyes, it is possible that the injector chose to administer the Botox in this manner purposefully.  This would be to ensure no further heaviness on the eyes, and the patient should be seen at 2 weeks to fine tune residual movement.  A small amount of Botox at upper lateral portion of the forehead should settle the peaks and give you a much more natural look.  Best of luck.

It’s hard to fully assess what you dislike without pictures.  My best guess is the Botox was injected only in the center of the forehead and not injected laterally. This results in a brow that doesn’t move in the middle,but only out laterally.  If you add some out laterally it’ll look much better!

I'm sorry you're unhappy with your experience. The good news is Botox results are not permanent. They will gradually resolve in 3-4 months. Hope this helps.

Hello and thank you for your question.  It seems that your injector injected Botox in the center of the frontalis muscle, which relaxes that area leaving the lateral portions of the forehead to still be active, and over compensate, causing peaked eyebrows.  To fix this, have your injector place a couple of units above the arches of the brows, but close to the hairline  (so that the brows do not drop). This will alleviate the issue.  For all your future Botox visits, make sure to let your injector know that you get peaked brows and that you need a couple extra units where I explained.  

Thanks for your question. Sorry to hear your experience has not been good so far. There is an art to botox and each patient is different. It sound like your provider may need to adjust the dose in certain areas such as the forehead so things are not so distorted. Ask your provider for a more conservative approach as well as a two week follow up to reassess and possibly do a touch up. If they are not sympathetic and work to adjust things you may need a new provider.Botox works differently for each patient, but it is very unusual that with the right placement and right dosing a patient will not get some improvement. The best way to have Botox and look natural is to have "baby" Botox.  You should consult an expert and have a small amount of Botox injected.  It sounds as if it was injected more on the sides and not in the proper amounts or location.
