Odd protruding bone/line on side of nose after rhinoplasty? (Photos)

Hello,This is very common after closed rhinoplasty when a dorsal bump has been removed, and no grafts have been placed between the upper cartilages that extend out from the bone and the midline septum. At this point, a prediction can't be made, nor can any revision be contemplated.  You'll need to heal more completely before then, the party line being one year.  Its only been seven weeks since your surgery, so it is very important to wait at least one year to allow full healing before making any plans for a revision rhinoplasty.  It would be helpful to get a copy of the operative report to understand what was accomplished during the procedure. It appears that  the nasal bone is laterally displaced, and the upper lateral cartilage is immediately displaced in that area causing an inverted V deformity.  It's important to be patient. Healing after rhinoplasty takes many months to a year for the swelling to decrease and the final product to develop. 7 weeks out from surgery is very early in this process and many additional changes are usually expected. However, areas of excessive post-operative swelling can sometimes be treated. I would recommend relaying your concerns to your rhinoplasty surgeon, have them evaluate your nose, and discuss if any additional treatments are necessary.

You are still very early in your recovery and likely have swelling throughout the nose. If you are having breathing or aesthetic concerns, I would certainly followup with your rhinoplasty surgeon and have them evaluate your nose.

Thank you for the question and photos and though an examination is needed and you are still early post op you may be developing an inverted V deformity and associated valve collapse.  So see your surgeon or other expert and be evaluatedDr Corbin
