Thank you for your question. Each Surgeon will have their own protocol they follow when it comes to patients BMI and surgery. I typically recommend being within 20 lbs of your goal weight. The reason is because if you were to lose 30, 40, 50 lbs after a tummy tuck then your abdominal wall muscle may have to be tighten up again and may have to address the extra skin. I would recommend speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for your question. It would depend on your surgeons max BMI limit. Every surgeon is different. For example, at my practice the max BMI limit for a tummy tuck is 33. Every practice has different requirements for performing a BBL based on BMI that is a weight measure to analyze how risky and optimal the surgery can be, in terms of complications that the patient could have or the results that the patient want to obtain from the surgery. I prefer a BMI of 32 to undergo a tummy tuck. If you are not planning future pregnancies, I recommend abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight.

Excellent question! The answer usually is yes. That said, the lower the BMI, the safer the procedure will be and the better results you will have. Results also last longer if your are at a stable weight.
In my practice we have a soft 30 BMI limit. This means some patients that are over 30 can qualify. It will depend on other factors like overall health, where the patient caries their weight, the procedure they are interested in and if they have any chronic condition like diabetes for example.
A BMI of 35 or over increases the risks of complications. A 32 BMI is usually good enough for most doctors but a 30 is certainly safer and more likely to produce better results.
So it would be best if you can go down all the way to 30, but you can check with your surgeon if it is ok if you fall a little short.

Yes, you would have as successful tummy tuck with a BMI slightly higher than 30. This is a guideline and in many cases due to your excess skin, you would still benefit from proceeding before you are able to meet this BMI guideline.

The best would be for you to loose more weight at least until 165 pounds, a higher BMI can bring complications to your surgery and won’t deliver the best results, also a tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure.

good morning, I hope you are well, the recommended bmi is 37, it is normal to have sagging skin after pregnancy, we can recommend a lipo and tummy tuck together although without photos it is very difficult to assist you. the lipo removes the localized fat and the tummy tuck removes excess skin and repairs the muscles of the abdomen.
