Weight gain after BA? Is this a common occurence or is it just bloating/water/gas as my body gets back to normal?

Great question!  A slight bit of weight gain after surgery is normal, due to the significant inflammation, your body is holding on to more water at this time.  Also your implants will cause you weight a little bit more as well.  Over the next few week, it should settle and go down.  Singular is very common to be prescribed as it has shown to decrease the chance of capsular contracture.  Best of luck and hope this information helps!

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  For most patients weight gain after surgery typically is the result of water retention and bloating.  As your anesthesia wears off, you are able to taper from your prescription pain medications, and your body heals, you will see gradual improvement.  Hang in there and I would expect you to see resolution within a matter of days.  Best wishes on an otherwise smooth recovery.

After BA it is very normal to gain some weight and that because of the implants and due to stopping your daily activity in the healing stage do not stress about that after 1 month your body will get rid of all the swelling you got from narcotics and you will be able to go back to your activities and you will find your weight settles down closer to your normal range.

It's not unusual for the scale to go up a bit after surgery due to fluid retention/swelling. It typically will resolve as you continue to heal and return to your normal routines. Be sure to eat a healthy, balanced diet and inform your surgeon of any questions or concerns. I'm including a video on pre and post op nutrition tips that I hope you find helpful.

Thank you for your question.  Bloating from water retention and gas are common following a Breast Augmentation. This will subside over the next week or so. Your weight will also increase slightly from the weight of your implants.  Best of luck with your recovery. 

Hello and thank you for your question.  It's common to have bloating, constipation (from pain meds), and you had IV fluids during surgery which add's to  it.  It'll subside after 2-3 weeks as far as overall weight gain.

With an augmentation, you will gain some weight with your implants. Also, many find using narcotics somewhat constipating and might have some weight gain. Surgery is also stress, and many do tend to eat more with stress. When you have recovered and are back to full activity, you may find your weight settles down closer to your normal range.
